This really is the easiest dessert in the whole wide world! We had a pot luck at my place once and my friend Vaid got this along… it was *so* yum. Asked her for the recipe and literally gasped when I found out how easy it was. I don’t have a name for it though.. we all just call it, Vaid’s Dessert :)
For Vaid’s Dessert you’ll need:
1 pack ready-to-make cream caramel (e.g. Foster Clark’s Creme Caramel)
1 pack (250ml) thick cream
1 pack Marie biscuits (you’ll need about 12-15 depending on the size of your bowl)
125ml hot water
2tbsp instant coffee
1tbsp cocoa powder
Right, before I start off. Note: I don’t have the exact measurements for the recipe and most of these measurements are approximations. So feel free to modify the recipe according to your tastes. This serves about 2-3 depending on how hungry you are. :)
First, dissolve the coffee and cocoa in water and set aside. Let it cool a bit. Meanwhile, in a separate bowl mix the thick cream with the caramel powder (leave the caramel sachet for later). Now, dip the biscuits in the coffee mix and alternately layer them with the custard mixture in a bowl (you’ll get two layers each). Top it with the caramel and chill for a few hours before serving. Tada! That’s it!
It’s like a cheat’s tiramisu! Only it’s not :)
I totally forgot to take a picture of the final outcome today, but I managed to snap a quick shot before my mom could tuck in. Cheers!
